Developing the story of Mount Raung and the secrets hidden behind its grandeur.

The adaptation keeps the novel structure - an ascent told as a series of records that disagree - but moves the argument into the landscape itself. The plan is to shoot on the mountain rather than around it, which sets the schedule against the weather window rather than the other way round.

Where it stands

In development. Script and location work are underway; casting and a shooting schedule are not yet set.

Production notes

The practical problem is altitude and access: the crew size that can actually work at the ridge is far smaller than the crew size the sequence wants. Most of the current work is about deciding what has to be carried up and what can be built lower down without the audience noticing the difference.
