The difficulty here is not the scares. It is that the material belongs to a community that still practises it, so the location work and the permission work are the same conversation. We are treating that conversation as part of development rather than something to settle once the schedule is locked.

Horror is the genre most likely to get this wrong, because the shortcut is always available: film the ritual, keep the imagery, drop the meaning. That is the version we are trying not to make.
